There are lodges and chalets to hire for your stay, but be aware of the single weekly ferry times to and from Auckland - and don't forget your shopping list!  If you have your own boat, then you can come and go as you please, and because it's only 45 mins from Auckland, it's the perfect location for an unforgettable day trip.  Waiheke Island is nearby, too, so why not put a winery tour on your list of things to do?

There are weekly crossings to Rakino Island from Pier 3 at Queen's Wharf provided by Belaire Ferries Ltd. Private charters are available from several companies along the quayside.
